Functional Movement Specialists
Dr. Abigail Ellsworth specializes in functional movement analysis as well as neurodynamic sequencing. Each evaluation, treatment session and plan of care is specified to meet the individual needs of each patient. While basic orthopedic treatments can get an individual started, the road to recovery needs to be tailored to the patient's specific movement demands and needs, addressing each persons unique dysfunction.
Abigail specializes in the treatment of Athletic Pubaligia and Gilmore's Groin syndromes. Her treatment philosophy and focus on neurodynamic sequencing has proven beneficial to the rehabilitation of patients affected by this injury.
Using a variety of treatment techniques ranging from manual therapy, Kinesio Taping, to Graston Technique Dr. Ellsworth has the tools and knowledge to help you recover. She will consult closely with your doctor to provide the treatment that will lead to recovery and get you back to work and/or play as soon as possible.
You will experience the difference from other physical therapy practices at the start of your initial evaluation. The personalized care and knowledge regarding your injury and the biomechanics involved in recovering from the injury set Abigail apart from others in her field. The coordination of services and other health care providers is essential for a cohesive plan of care.
The best and most effective way to treat a complex injury is to take a detailed and accurate history of the problem. This is followed by a functional assessment that identifies where misalignment or dysfunction exists. During the initial evaluation a detailed explanation of dysfunction, and plan of care is created to meet the patient's goals.
Each treatment session starts with a brief review of the last. Home activities are reviewed and new progressive exercises are given and gone over. Myofascial release techniques, Soft tissue massage, and a variety of other manual therapy techniques are used to achieve proper tissue and bone alignment.
As your pain dissipates and you look towards returning to your desired activities as functional training plan of care is devised. This is to ensure that all of your hard work pays off and you are able to return to activity pain free and fully functional.
